Excitement is in the air as Stokes and Piedmont residents anxiously await the return of professional theatre by way of the 2010 Winter Dessert Theatre Series sponsored by the Stokes County Arts Council. Following up the hugely successful 2009 season, the 2010 series will offer five to six professional performances at venues throughout Stokes County.

The Nebula of Georgia Saturday, January 23rd at the Historic Walnut Cove Colored School, 308 Brook Street, Walnut Cove, NC. Carolina Skyline Players will bring the performance of “The Nebula of Georgia.” Dessert and beverage will be provided starting at 6:00 p.m. and performance at 7:00 p.m. For ticket information, contact the Stokes County Arts Council at 336-593-8159.
Country Courtship Saturday, February 13th at King Moravian Church, 234 West Dalton Road, King, NC. Once Upon a Blue Ridge will present “A Country Courtship.” Dessert and beverage will be provided starting at 6:00 p.m. and performance at 7:00 p.m. For ticket information, contact the Stokes County Arts Council at 336-593-8159.
Struggle for Freedom Saturday, February 27th at the Historic Walnut Cove Colored School, 308 Brook Street, Walnut Cove, NC. Bright Star Children’s Theatre will present “Struggle for Freedom: The Life of Dr. King.” Dessert and beverage will be provided starting at 6:00 p.m. and performance at 7:00 p.m. For ticket information, contact the Stokes County Arts Council at 336-593-8159.
Taming of the Shrew Saturday, March 6th at King Moravian Church, 234 West Dalton Road in King, NC. The N. C. Shakespeare Festival will present “The Taming of the Shrew.” Dessert and beverage will be provided starting at 6:00 p.m. and performance at 7:00 p.m. For ticket information, contact the Stokes County Arts Council at 336-593-8159.
  The world premier of “Death By Chocolate” will be performed by the North and South Stokes High School Performing Arts Department on Saturday, March 13, 2010, with directorial help of Mr. Justin Bulla, director of the Performing Arts Department. Dessert served starting at 6:00 p.m. and performance starting at 7:00 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 725 West Dalton Road, King, North Carolina.


large snowflakeDessert will be served starting at 6:00 p.m. and all performances will begin at 7:00 p.m., with the exception of the January 23rd performance of “The Nebula of Georgia.” This performance will begin at 6:00 p.m. with intermission at 7:00 p.m. (dessert served) and performance resuming at 7:20 p.m. until conclusion (Acts I and II). Tickets to the 2010 Winter Dessert Theatre Series are $14 per person per performance, and $12 for SCAC members, students and seniors 55 years and over. A series ticket for all five performances can be purchased for $55. Ticket prices include dessert and performance. Seating is limited.
