features the work of over 75 local artists
and crafts persons.

Pieces include original paintings, limited edition prints, pottery, stained glass, blown glass, masks, iron work, pewter-smithing, floral wreaths, baskets, quilts, wood carving, wooden toys, natural soaps and scents, jewelry, Indian flutes, t-shirts, books, CD's, Christmas Angels and ornaments, lamps and much more.....

Today's Dan River Art Market is the result of years of evolution. Local artists and craftspeople had yearned for a place to show and sell their work. Through the collaborative efforts of the Stokes and Rockingham County Arts Councils, the Art Market opened in May 1988. A grant from the North Carolina Arts Council allowed for the renovation of the old Petree Building in Historic Danbury. This has been home to the Dan River Art Market in Stokes County ever since. Volunteers have put in many hours to make the market the success that it is today. The Dan River Art Market is a favorite stop for the 400,000 annual visitors to beautiful Hanging Rock State Park. A WORD TO CRAFTSPEOPLE.................

Membership in the Dan River Art Market is open to those who work or reside in Stokes and neighboring counties. Work is juried for admission on the basis of quality and originality (no kits or commercially made items). Each member pays a small annual fee and consigns their work for sale. The Dan River Art Market retains a commission on sales to cover costs of operation. This commission is reduced for those who volunteer their time on a monthly basis to work a half-day in the shop. A training session will be provided for new volunteers.

Additional craftspeople are always welcome and we encourage them to submit their work for jurying. Contact the Stokes County Arts Council for more information.

Monday - Friday       8:30am - 5:00pm
Saturday & Sunday  1:00 - 5:00pm
