2011 Summer Art Camps at
Mount Olive Elementary School

ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS NOW!
The Stokes County Arts Council will host
art classes for children the weeks of July 18th
and July 25 at Mount Olive Elementary School,
2145 Chestnut Grove School Road, King, NC. Each class
offering is one week and will be held from 10 a.m. until
2 p.m., Monday through Friday. Please pre-register for
art camp as soon as possible in order to reserve your
space.
The Living Storybook Drama Class -
Taught by Peter and Christina Holland, the Directors of
Once Upon a Blue Ridge, a touring professional theatre
company.
Week of July 18th: Creative
Dramatics (for students 6-9 years old): Creative play,
movement, puppets, improvisation, the fundamentals of
acting and characterization. The emphasis is on unlocking
creativity and positively expressing feelings. Class will
culminate in a recital for family and friends on Friday
evening.
Week of July 25th: Basics
of Acting (for students 10-teens): Improvisation, movement,
script study, character building, vocal projection, articulation.
Experienced students will be given additional material
to work on outside of class. Class will culminate in a
recital for family and friends on Friday evening.
Cost: $80 per student per week
The Visual Art Class -
First week will be taught by Mrs. Lisa Atkins;
second week will be taught by Mrs. Janis Henderson-Hunsucker
and Mrs. Amanda Gordon, teaching professionals.
Week of July 18th: ArtWorks
(for students 6-14) Class will culminate in an exhibit
for family and friends on Friday evening.
Week of July 25th: ArtWorks
(for students 6-14) Class will culminate in an exhibit
for family and friends on Friday evening.
Enjoy a week of educational and fun activities
demonstrating how the arts relate to employable skills.
Cost: $65 per student per week
The registration fee for Visual Arts Class
and/or Drama Class includes a shirt and pizza party on
Friday for each student.
Age exceptions can be made for both camps
and a minimum number of students are needed for the camps
to take place. Tell your family, friends, and neighbors.
